Xbox Vision Release Date Unclear

Microsoft's camera for the Xbox 360 is coming soon, with an official release date set for Sept 19th. However, there have been reports on the Internet of the camera landing on store shelves a little early, at retailers like Toys ‘R’ Us. The Live Vision camera package apparently includes the camera you see here, plus a headset and a code for a single month free Gold subscription to Xbox Live - and a registration key for the game Uno, which of course supports the camera and full Live multiplayer chat mode.

Uno players being able to see and hear each other on Xbox Live... I'm not sure that’s a good thing. But if it’s your thing, check your local Toys ‘R’ Us because apparently people are snatching them up and adding their photos to Live. It’s likely a stocking error on the part of the giant Toy retailer; large retailers will be the first to make such errors just because they have so many other products coming through all the time.

According to Gamespot’s rumor control, they contacted Microsoft to see if this wasn’t just an 'early release on purpose' thing, but the company had no comment. In fact Microsoft says no official date was ever announced for the camera.

I'm pretty sure that's not the greatest idea. If I had kids, I wouldn't want them being on web cam with some older guy playing video games. Another way for predators to get inside the kids head.

Is this like Uno the card game?  If so, whatever happened to actually using the cards?  You know, like when you're sitting around at camp and it's raining, and you've got nothing better to do, so you grab your family, pick up a deck and play...and find out it's so much more fun than sitting in front of your computer all day, as you temporarily recapture your childhood innocence.

Honestly, if a deck of cards is the next thing computers cause to become obsolete, i will swear off technology forever in protest.

Finally Microsoft decides to get on the interactive wave w/the XBOX.  Ever heard of Eye-Toy by Sony.  Obviously XBOX had their eyes and ears closed to that effect.  There's no market out there for visual communication in today's gaming. That's why Eye-Toy flopped.  Way to follow suit Microsoft ... Dummies!

Really the only market that's into interactive gaming is Asia.  For the rest of the world to novelty of it wears off really quickly.
