The Nissan Sentra is one of the coolest, most affordable rides on the road (count me biased, I own a 2004 SE-R). For a few years now, car audio manufacturer Rockford Fosgate has contributed to the Sentra’s success with its exclusive agreement to provide it and the Nissan Versa with stereo equipment. Now, it appears the deal has been prolonged between the two to 2007, with the Sentra receiving a moderate audio upgrade to match its changing face for the upcoming year.

In the past, the agreement between Nissan and Rockford Fosgate has meant the latter supplied the Sentra with a custom head unit, speakers, and even 8” trunk mounted subwoofer. The reported output is about 300 watts, more than enough for the average car audio fan. However, that wattage appears to be increasing in 2007, with next year’s Sentra and Versa both receiving eight-speaker 340 watt Rockford Fosgate options. The 8” sub remains.
The Nissan Sentra has changed much in appearance this year, for better or worse. Rockford Fosgate’s upgrade, however, is all the more reason to give it a whirl. Let’s hope other car manufacturers begin taking their car audio as seriously as Nissan.
