Nintendo Wii "Wee" Death Leads to Ten Firings

Two days ago we reported on the infamous Nintendo Wii "Wee" death, whereby a 28 year old mother of three lost her life after participating in a Sacramento, California radio show contest.  As a result of the "Hold your wee for a Wii" challenge, Jennifer Strange succumbed to water intoxication after drinking two liters of water.  The mom had hoped to win Nintendo's very popular console for her kids.

Most of the blame has fallen on 107.9 KDND's Morning Rave show.  According to the Sacramento Bee, ten of the employees associated with the morning radiocast have been terminated.  The Bee reports that the Rave's hosts knew of the contest's potential dangers, and yet held it anyhow.

The station's parent company, Entercom/Sacramento told the media that the ten terminations, including a few on-air DJs, are "part of an ongoing, thorough investigation."

What's to investigate?  Urinate regularly, hydration in moderation, and wait a few months for the Wii to populate store shelves.

it is definatley not nintendo's fault. If someone told me shot someone and i will give a wii i would say no because if you kill someone you go to jail and you can't use the wii in jail. anyway the radio station deserves what the family is doing to them.

ahhh 2 Gallons, that makes more sense.

But I think really we are all missing the point here....who won the Wii?

She actually drank almost 2 GALLONS (about 7.5 liters). From the released recordings the DJ's knew about the dangers (and even joked about them) while her comments lead one to believe she was NOT informed of those dangers. Life is cheap on morning radio.

It's sad, and people have made good points about "blame Nintendo" and "blame the radio station", but it's nothing anyone else is thinking.  It's marketing.  How bout we remove the blame from former mentioned and just blame "ignant muthafudgen morons" WHO would do anything to get a wii. I know it was all in fun but it's beyond my understanding why everyone wants to whole-heartedly blame these companies.

Perfect example; Money.  If everyone wanted money that bad why are they taking aggressive actions to make it?!  Stupid question you say?  It is because ppl kill ppl and risk injury/death and the like to get what they don't have.  This issue is well beyond Nintendo, even the electronic industry.

Regardless of what you think I'm defending, there is some blame to be placed here. The radio station contest coordinators are unfortunately at the forefront of this tragic fiasco so they should take the fall.

Hey! I guess someone's got to be the scapegoat here, and the survey SAYS .... (enter profanity here)
