Blu-ray Spidey Senses Tingle for November Release Date

Just days after reports that HD-DVD is making its mark across the pond in Europe – giving Xbox 360 add-on owners like myself a glimmer of hope – rumors now abound that one of 2007's biggest blockbusters will land on Blu-ray this November.  Spiderman 3, which covers the story of "Venom," has yet to hit theaters, although speculation is that the high definition disc release will be exclusively Blu-ray and on the market November 2.

Spidey fans shouldn't get their senses tingling just yet.  The date is anything but confirmed, instead coming through a promotional tidbit along with a French DVD version of "Spiderman 2.1".  There, an advertisement blatantly displays the cheeky line, "Le 2 Novembre 2007".

The date would refer to a French release of the movie, although this may not be any different than an American launch.  It might also mark a good time for Sony to release the previous two Spiderman flicks, which have yet to debut on Blu-ray.

Call it misplaced movie criticism or HD-DVD sour grapes, but Sony fans can keep their Tobey Maguire CGI-fest.
