PS3 - PC Gaming with Unreal III, Epic Games Changes Gears

The Sequel to Unreal Tournament 2004 is finally coming in November - Unreal III. This time, Epic Games changed gears and went with a PC/PS3-only game. There is no doubt Gears of War is one of the biggest gaming hits to come along in awhile. Created by Epic Games specifically for the Xbox 360, it gave us a shooter with a gritty style reminiscent of a Mos Eisley ghetto on Tatooine.

All we’ve seen of Epic’s new installment of the Unreal franchise is the trailer. It looks awesome! We can expect more of the weapons that have made Unreal so fun over the years, and this time it looks like we have a few vehicles to ride around in to frag your buddies. Carrying the Unreal pedigree, we expect hours of deathmatch excitement as soon as this game hits the market.

Since I don’t have a PS3 (for now) I’ll be looking at the PC version. Do you really feel at all comfortable with first person shooters using the gamepad? Give me a mouse and a keyboard – the old fashioned way I’ve been dealing pixilated deaths since the days of Doom. Well, keyboard anyway. The addition of the mouse with keyboard came along about the time of Quake when a 3D perspective was required.

You probably aren't aware, but the PS3 version will support keyboard and mouse, as well as the new FragFX thing

Yeah, I know PS3 is capable and it seems like it'd be cool to use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. But the PC and console are completely different experiences for me ... and I think I'm pretty average in that regard.

My PC is at a desk where I sit upright. Console is in front of my TV where I'm kicked back at a couch - not condusive to the keyboard / mouse combo. But hey, if that's your poison more power to ya.
