You've got HDCP and AACS confused: AACS is actually the on-disk encryption scheme that has been cracked, HDCP is the copy-protection mechanism that is designed to prevent dumping the stream as it travels between the player device and the display.

Oh, and the body that waves around the DMCA in a flawed attempt to put the genie back into the bottle, is the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and not the RIAA.

AACS is the standard. It was dreamed up by the industry and it uses HDCP which is the encryption scheme

Based on what the AACS LA says about itself - I'm using the term AACS to include the legal body that defends the encryption schemes (including AACS and HDCP itself) in court.

And you can't Johnny Cochran your way out of that one even if you had the whole NAACP or the NCAA behind you!
