Debunk: Cover your angles before heading to the local electronics stores. Here is a fragment from a question I was recently asked by someone looking into buying a new HDTV . The LCD, Plasma display technologies suffer heavily from the horizontal and vertical viewing angle problems. Let us define what is this problem. It is, when you view the screen at an angle from the center of the screen, the brightness and contrast goes down, compared to when viewed from the center.

LCD and Plasma based screens too suffer, though the issue is more with rear projection TVs. I have watched a 70 inch LCD HDTV, where when you sit on a sofa and watch, the upper half of the screen is darker compared to the lower half. But I'd also add Dr. that the rear projections are the WORST at keeping brightness in the face of an adverse viewing angle. All display types are designed for optimal viewing when head on.
