The Sony PlayStation quickly became one of the most popular video game consoles when it was first released to the public in 1994. Sony has continued that great video game tradition today in recent years with the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. While there were dozens of great games released on Sony's three biggest consoles in 2014, these are the five best.

The Last of Us Remastered

"The Last of Us" was named one of the best video games of all-time when it was released for the PS3 in 2013. The new remastered version the was released for the PS4 a year latter made the game even better. "The Last of Us Remastered" enhanced the graphics and improved the controls of an amazing post-apocalyptic survival game.

The open world building block game "Minecraft" first became available for the PC in 2009, but the experience did not get any better than when the game became available on the PS4 in September 2014. Thanks to the connectivity to between the PS 4 and PS Vita, "Minecraft" players did not have stop their creations when they left the house.

Final Fantasy X

The "Final Fantasy" series has been a staple on every PlayStation console. "Final Fantasy X" was one of the best reviewed games in the franchise. The game was originally made for the PS2 in 2001, but it made its high-definition debut on the PS3 in March 2014. Releasing the game with improved graphics 13 years later let a new generation of gamers enjoy the beautiful love story of "Final Fantasy X."

Dark Souls II

"Dark Souls II" was released for the PS3 in March 2014, nearly three years after the first game in the series. The action role-playing game was easily one of the most beautiful and difficult games released in recent years. Mastering the game is very rewarding thanks to the difficulty, which is extremely rare to find in a video game today.

The Walking Dead

"The Walking Dead" was released in five separate episodes in 2012 on the PS3. The entire story became playable on the PS4 in October 2014. "The Walking Dead" was easily one of the best PlayStation games of 2014 because of its beautiful comic book style graphics and heartbreaking story that changes based on the decision you make throughout the game. You start to genuinely care for each character as you progress through the game, which only ramps up the intensity of the game.
