Dad’s Small Gift
Remington Titanium 5500
Not all of the electronic gifts for Dad this Christmas have to blow out his eardrums, cause him to drool or permanently disfigure his “gaming thumbs”. No, some serve a few purposes, such as the Remington Titanium 5500 which does all of the below:- Shaves close
- Makes him look sexy
- Is just a damn cool gadget
What’s so special about it?
In a world of electric shavers that sometimes act more like nose hair clippers, the Titanium 5500 is a John Deere riding mower. That’s because every time a man goes to shave, the hair must pass through a slide-up beard trimmer and a triumvirate of subsequent razors. That makes it far more powerful than the competition from Panasonic and Philips (we’re thinking both should stick to televisions). Because of all the fast-moving blades, the point of the Remington is to refine and even completely remove long hair, so it might be ideal for the man who can and will achieve big time facial hair. With that said, we like it enough that it’s pretty suitable (and relatively affordable) for every situation, from Bobby’s first shave to Cactus Jack’s attempt to work on Wall Street.
Some other notable qualities of the Titanium 5500 include pop-up mini-foil (some jargon that basically means it’ll get you a close shave), automatic cleaning and a “quick charge” feature.
All in all, it’s pretty close to being the perfect shaver. Considering all of the features - and the fact that it just looks cool - dad’ll like it plenty because it makes him look good. One last helpful tidbit: the travel case is tough and will protect the Titanium for many, many business trips to come.
Ok, it rocks. How much does it cost?
Despite the fact that much of the competition falls somewhere in the $150 to $200 range, you’ll be (pleasantly) surprised to read that the Titanium - which appears to be far superior than its competition - is only about $100. Considering it’s built to last (and being marketed to those with the heftiest beards, it has to be), this shaver should last a very long time.
One cost caveat to keep in mind is that the cleaning solution is way overpriced at $5 a bottle. But simply use your imagination, lots of other things clean.
