Gifts for the Kids
Keep them quiet for five minutes, already
For us old fogies - and by that I mean anyone who is fully aware of where presents come from - we’re pretty lucky if Christmas still applies. Let’s face it, the real reason the holiday exists is for the kids. In most cases, Christmas just isn’t the same when you’re 30 compared to those glorious times when you lay awake wondering if that sound downstairs was a fat, bearded man in a big red suit. (Then again, that could still be a concern for some adults, depending on the neighborhood.) What’s more, grown ups sometimes go to bed on December 24th worrying about family or work issues, but all kids have to worry about - up until that final moment when the sun rises at 7am - is whether they’ve been good enough to warrant the new Nintendo.
Because December 25th is still primarily for kids, there are a plethora of different devices available to brighten their cute faces on Christmas morning. Try looking in the following categories when shopping for little Bobby or Suzie:
Shopping for kids can be tough, despite all of the choices out there. It can be especially tricky when looking into electronics, since you want to buy something they’ll like that is also safe for play. That’s a concern for many parents perusing the video game market, but rest assured: we’re gamers ourselves, and are fully aware of what titles are suitable for young eyes and what titles should stay locked away along with booze, dirty magazines and curse words.
Now that you know the categories we’ll be covering, here are some of the most popular name brands in kid-friendly electronics:
- Nintendo
- Creative
- Sony
- RedOctane
- Tiger
- Nintendo
Trust us, the gifts we’ll list here rock. They’ll safely keep your kids busy for hours on end (unless of course, you actually want them to get some fresh air). In fact, the great thing about many of these products is they can be used in the average bedroom or living area, but still get little tykes off of the couch. Many are also designed with multiple players in mind, so your kids can get in a little socializing with their fun.
