Gifts for Mom
Electronics aren’t exclusive to the Y chromosome
Now, we know what you’re thinking - women aren’t likely to want a video game system or even a big screen television this Christmas. We agree. And although the gorgeous Sony TAV-L1 HDTV would be great for watching Oprah, it simply isn’t likely that most women will enjoy it over the gifts we recommend for Mom. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule - but for four grand, you’ll want to be sure!
In all seriousness, the world of electronics is simply too vast to limit to just one sex. Women use gizmos every day, whether they admit it or not. And no, we’re not talking about (handy but) boring gifts like toasters, fridges and vacuum cleaners. Women use a whole lot of different products that feature batteries and buttons, including some of the following:
- Samsung
- Apple
- Panasonic
- Sony
- Dell
- Universal
- Canon
Looking through that catalog, isn’t it possible that at least one or two items might please your dear wife or mother? We’re sure of it. That’s why the following pages will showcase five of the best products available for Mom this Christmas, with each fitting an appropriate price range. As with Dad, we’re only showing you the best of the best, so feel free to take us along to the mall (and knowing all you guys out there, that should be Sunday, December 24 around 2:00pm).
We don’t perpetuate the stereotype
Just to re-emphasize - we try to make our readers laugh here at Gizmo Café, but we’re certainly not fans of the stereotype that women don’t use electronics. Would we be presenting an entire section on possible gifts for Mom if we didn’t feel the fairer sex (oops, more stereotype) was completely tech literate? In reality, women use the stuff everyday, and in many cases it’s purely for entertainment purposes. So in case you’re still having a hard time believing us that your wife or Mom would ever want a piece of electronics hardware, read on - we promise the next five items will be winners.
