The Motorola H5 Miniblue Earpiece

Motorola H5 Miniblue

The Bluetooth is the Voice of Your Inner-Ear

One of the cleverest gadgets demonstrated at CES 2006 was the Bluetooth hands-free earpiece by Motorola. The H5 Miniblue ear piece plugs into your ear like an ear-bud headset. The ear-bud measures exactly 33x41 millimeters.

The ear-bud is designed to be an unobtrusive device, but exactly how ergonomic this device is may be relative to the individual user. There are those who can’t stand anything attached to their ear.

However, this lightweight earpiece lets you talk and listen with clarity in virtually any noisy environment. Your voice is actually transmitted from the earpiece itself, which uses the vibrations picked up in your inner ear. This design is actually far less susceptible to interference than any microphone.

The unit charges in about 20 minutes using its included charger base. When it is fully charged, the ear-bud will offer only 1.5 hours of wireless, hands-free voice communication. Motorola states on their website that with the portable-charging base you can get approximately 7.5 hours of wireless talk time.

H5 Miniblue Features:

  • Ergonomic, comfortable design at only 33x41 mm
  • Speaker/mic uses sounds through the inner ear, reducing interference from outside noise.
  • Battery charges in 20 minutes and lasts 1.5 hours/ 7.5 hours with portable charger.
  • Range up to 30 feet (10 meters)
  • Bluetooth headset compatible with any Bluetooth phone

Office warriors’ multi-tasking can roam as far as 30 feet from their compatible Bluetooth enabled phone. This allows you to wander halls and pour another coffee without missing a single word. The H5 Miniblue is the ultimate in hands-free freedom. As well, the design of the H5 Miniblue is so compact people will barely know it’s there.

Motorola says the H5 Miniblue will be available in the first half of 2006, but there is no indication yet as to the price.
