Sony Ericsson Takes Another Try at the Music Phone
The W810 is Sony Ericsson’s second Walkman, which has been branded as a cell phone/mobile music player. This model has a classic black look with trendy orange highlights and is a significant improvement over last year's W800 effort. The W810 includes a 512 Meg Memory Stick Pro Duo card and it’s expandable to a 2 Gig Memory Stick. The handset can playback MP3 and AAC music file formats through a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The device comes with HPM-70 stereo headphones (earbuds) that you’ll want to replace with something better if you’re serious about the musical quality of your new phone. Music data transfers can be handled through the memory stick over USB from a PC using the provided Disc2Phone music management software.
The usability of the music feature on this phone has been simplified by including a Walkman button, which brings up your music functions with a single press. You can play, pause, stop, skip and control volume with the Walkman control. Music automatically pauses when an incoming call is received by the device and begins playing automatically when the call ends.
